Search and rescue operations continue in Izmir province

The number of victims of the earthquake in Turkey’s Izmir has risen to 51. A total of 682 victims have been discharged from hospitals and 214 people remain in treatment.

This was stated by the vice president of Turkey Fuat Oktay, reports the Anadolu agency.

At 07:00 local time, the earthquake was followed by 812 aftershocks, 40 of which were greater than 4, according to the Government of Turkey’s Emergency Management and Prevention Administration (AFAD).

Search and rescue work continues in Izmir province.

As RBC-Ukraine reported, the tremors also reached the territory of Greece. The earthquake was felt by the inhabitants of Crete and Athens. On the Greek island of Samos, two people died under the rubble of a building.
