A new airport officially opened in the German capital Willy Brandt Berlin-Brandenburg (BER), whose construction began in 2006. This was reported on Saturday, October 31 by the DW edition.

It should be noted that the air port has already received two national aircraft. The first flight is scheduled for Sunday morning, to London.

According to the newspaper, the inauguration of the BER was accompanied by various protests: representatives of environmental organizations, neighbors and taxi drivers. In total, about three thousand protesters gathered.

On the construction of the new airport, the German authorities spent around seven billion euros, while the original estimate was two billion. In this case, the delivery of the item was postponed six times. Journalists called BER “the graveyard of billions.”

In connection with the opening of a new air port, Berlin’s international airports Schenefeld Y Tegel they will be closed because they are technically obsolete.

As reported, Ryanair has increased the number of Kiev-Berlin flights from two to seven for a week since the end of October this year. A significant increase in the number of flights on the route is associated with an increase in demand for it.
