The suspect in an accident on Maidan Nezalezhnosti, which killed two people, is now in a hospital under surveillance, the prosecutor’s office in Kiev said.
The suspect in an accident at the Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kiev, in which two people died, was informed of the suspicion. On October 31, the press service of the Kiev City Prosecutor’s Office reported on this.
“The actions of the man are qualified in part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The driver was arrested and taken to hospital, where he is under surveillance. The question of choosing a containment measure for him is being decided,” it reported.
The accident, which killed two people and injured four more, occurred on October 30. The driver of the car lost control, drove onto the sidewalk and struck pedestrians, after which he crashed into a public transportation stop.
Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko said that Yuri N. was arrested, born in 1954. The driver after the arrest testified that he lost consciousness and lost control of driving. According to media reports, the suspect is a former member of the National Securities and Securities Market Commission Yuri Nazarenko.
