The International Monetary Fund (IMF) reacted to the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine regarding the electronic declaration. The Foundation believes that the electronic declaration should not be canceled.
This is stated in the response to the Ukrinform query.
The IMF described the introduction in Ukraine of a system of accountability of government officials through electronic declarations as an important element of bilateral interaction.
“The launch of a comprehensive electronic system to access information on assets and income of senior officials in 2016 was and continues to be a critical step in the fight against corruption and should not be canceled,” the IMF said in a statement.
The Fund also stressed the need to strengthen anti-corruption institutions in Ukraine and recalled that this is “an important commitment under the IMF-supported program.”
Earlier, the Financial Times wrote that the Constitutional Court’s decision on the declaration is aimed at aggravating Ukraine’s relations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
At the same time, Siervo del Pueblo said that the issue of canceling the International Monetary Fund tranche was not raised.
