Law enforcement officers detained a driver who committed a fatal accident in central Kiev. A drager test at the scene of the tragedy showed no alcohol in the man’s blood.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Anton Gerashchenko, announced this on Facebook.

According to him, Yuri N., born in 1954, was driving the Land Rover jeep.

“Blood and urine samples are taken to check if he was under the influence of drugs or medications. The dredge test did not show the presence of alcohol in the blood. But the blood and urine tests will give more accurate results,” he said .

In addition, the investigators of the metropolitan police will present the man with suspicion under part 3 of article 286 of the Penal Code, violation of the rules of heavy traffic, which caused the death of two or more people.

At the same time, Gerashchenko added that the driver gave a statement after the arrest. According to the man, he lost consciousness and lost control of driving.
