Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry blames Russia for the situation in Belarus

Ukraine has never interfered and does not intend to interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus, said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The statements of the Russian side about the destabilization in Belarus from the Ukrainian territory do not correspond to reality. This was stated by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Vasyl Bodnar, as reported on Friday, October 30, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

“We categorically reject the insinuations of the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov that the destabilization of the situation in Belarus was allegedly directed from the territory of Ukraine,” Bodnar said.

Ukraine has never interfered and does not intend to interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus, unlike Russia and its special services, said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

According to him, an important part of the responsibility for the current situation in Belarus rests with the Russian Federation, which is trying to deprive the Belarusian people of independence and sovereignty, to seize their acquisitions and assets.

Russia fears a democratic Ukraine, fears the democratization of Belarus, and therefore constantly resorts to attempts to discredit and manipulate, according to Bodnar.

“But Russia’s attempts to sow discord between the Ukrainian and Belarusian peoples are doomed to defeat, as are insignificant attempts to transfer responsibility for Russia’s subversive activities to Ukraine,” the Ukrainian diplomat concluded.

As reported, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba spoke in favor of maintaining trade with Belarus, despite the political crisis in this country. According to him, although Ukraine and Belarus are politically separate, no one should oppose the well-being of the Belarusian and Ukrainian peoples, and well-being arises, in particular, through common trade.
