At least six buildings were destroyed in Izmir, Turkey, in a 6.6 magnitude earthquake that struck the eastern Mediterranean. Not only was it felt in western Turkey, it also affected several countries: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Greece, Libya, Great Britain, and Macedonia.
The Administration of Management and Emergency Prevention of the Government of Turkey (AFAD) reported that the epicenter of the tremors was recorded at 2:51 p.m. local time (1:51 p.m. Kiev time – Ed.), was located in the Aegean Sea off the coast of the Seferhisar district of Izmir province, Anadolu news agency reported.
The victims have not yet been reported. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his sympathy for fellow citizens affected by the earthquake in Izmir.
