The last time the hryvnia was at this level in January 2018
The collapse of the national currency could have been influenced by the decision of the Constitutional Court to cancel the electronic declaration, the expert said.
The exchange rate of the hryvnia on the interbank market on Thursday, October 29, fell to a nearly three-year low, to 28.44 UAH per dollar for sale and 28.43 UAH for purchase. The last time the hryvnia exchange rate was at this level was on January 26, 2018. It is reported by NV. Deal.
The collapse of the hryvnia could have been influenced by the Constitutional Court’s decision to cancel the electronic declaration, says Evgenia Akhtyrko, a financial analyst at Concorde Capital.
“Last week the rate was in an unstable equilibrium. Most likely, this news became a psychological factor that changed the market situation in favor of sellers,” he said.
As reported, the National Defense and Security Council will hold an urgent closed meeting at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky viewed the Constitutional Court’s decision to abolish liability for inaccurate income declarations by officials as a threat to national security.
