Only representatives of the media who regularly write about the work of the Verkhovna Rada will be allowed to enter the parliament premises.

The accreditation of around a hundred journalists who did not cover Verkhovna Rada’s activities has been canceled.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Expression has banned journalists from 22 publications visiting parliament. This was announced by the committee’s secretariat.

The committee supported the cancellation of the accreditation of 22 media outlets at the proposal of the BP press service. According to its director, Iryna Karmelyuk, 2,934 people from 512 media outlets are now accredited in parliament.

“Since the procedure to register a communication medium is very simple, there are many people who are accredited, they come in large numbers. We carry out checks once a year and send letters to some media asking them to provide materials on the work of parliament. Only three responded to the request to 22 media, while others did not “, – explained Karmelyuk.

He clarified that the accreditation of around a hundred journalists who did not cover BP’s activities was canceled.

“If a person does not write and only needs this certificate to approve it, then this is dishonest in relation to those journalists who write and work, and have limited access. Well, there are events that a small number of journalists can attend,” he added . – said the head of the press service.

He remarked that this is not a restriction on journalists: “If they show that they are covering the work of the Rada, they can restore their accreditation.”

We will recall, on September 6, 2019, that the President of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmitry Razumkov, said that journalists will always have access to parliament.
