The European Parliament may adopt a new resolution on Poland due to the decision of the Constitutional Court on abortion
The decision will be debated in a meeting of the Civil Liberties Commission of the European Parliament, where they can approve the corresponding resolution.
The European Parliament is concerned about the decision of the Constitutional Court of Poland, which suggests an almost total ban on abortion. This was stated by the president of the Civil Liberties Commission of the European Parliament, Fernando López Aguilar, in a comment to RMF24 on Wednesday, October 28.
Aguilar is among the authors of the first EU report on the situation of the rule of law in the member states and was responsible for the section on Poland. He explained that the decision of the Constitutional Court will be discussed in a committee meeting, and then this issue may become the subject of the European Parliament resolution.
“There are clearly grounds for another European Parliament resolution on Poland … We will have as many debates and resolutions in the European Parliament as necessary to restore European values in Poland,” Aguilar stressed.
The diplomat added that although the issue of abortion is the responsibility of the national authorities of the member states, Poland is obliged to implement the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Values, which is part of the EU agreements.
Previously, in Poland, opponents of the abortion ban blocked roads. In Warsaw, the blockade of roads by anti-abortion protesters began just before the afternoon rush hour.
Also in Poland, women parliamentarians blocked the work of the Seim. Women blocked the work of the Polish parliament due to the scandalous ban on abortions due to fetal pathology.
This is war. Poland protests abortion ban
