Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the prospects for cooperation in the railway industry with the CEO of the French company ALSTOM, Henri Poupard-Lafarge. This was announced on Tuesday, October 27, by the president’s office.
Zelensky highlighted the interest of the Ukrainian authorities in the implementation of joint projects.
“We give priority to value-added projects and increase the number of jobs. That is why infrastructure projects are important for Ukraine,” he said.
The president separately focused on the Ukraine railway, which is one of the largest in Europe – its length is about 22 thousand km.
The ALSTOM chief, in turn, noted that the company views cooperation not only in terms of modernization of the rolling stock of the Ukrainian railway, but also as a long-term partnership for the maintenance of the locomotive fleet and the creation of jobs. in Ukraine.
Poupard-Lafarge emphasized that ensuring the localization of a part of production in Ukraine within the framework of joint projects will not only stimulate the development of Ukrainian industrial potential, but will also help Ukrainian producers to enter export markets through inclusion in global supply chains. Zelensky noted that such projects are very important.
