Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik will fight Britain’s Derek Chisora on October 31 in London.
Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik will hold his second fight in the heavyweight division on Saturday, October 31, his opponent will be the British Derek Chisora.
Initially, the showdown between Usik and Chisora was supposed to take place on May 23 at London’s O2 Arena, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed.
The new venue for the fight is Wembley Arena, which has capacity for 12.5 thousand spectators, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, promoter Eddie Hearn hopes to receive permission to allow between 1,500-2,000 fans in the fight.
Where to watch the Usyk fight
The live stream will be available on the sports streaming service Dazn or SkySports.
In Ukraine, the match will be broadcast on the MEGOGO video service. The approximate time to start the battle is at 23:00.
There will be no live broadcasts on public television.
Who is chisora
The 36-year-old Briton can hardly be called a successful boxer. Chisora had 41 fights in the professional ring, winning 32 and losing 9.
Usyk, for example, has never lost anything.
Chisora began her professional career in 2007 and since then she has never been able to win a world title.
On December 11, 2010, Chisora was going to fight Ukrainian boxer Vladimir Klitschko, but three days before the battle, Klitschko tore his abdominal muscle; the fight had to be postponed until April 30, 2011. But the postponed battle did not take place either: Wladimir Klitschko had the opportunity to carry out a unification battle with another Briton, David Haye.
In November 2010, Chisora was convicted of assaulting his girlfriend due to messages from an unknown man found on his phone. Chisora was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison with a two-year suspension, a £ 2,000 fine and 150 hours of community service.
As a result, Chisora suffered for the Ukrainians. In February 2012, he wrestled with Vitali Klitschko. The whole time before the fight, Chisora tried to provoke Klitschko into a fight: first he slapped at the weigh-in, then before the fight he spat in Vladimir Klitschko’s face.
The fight was quite difficult for Vitaly, but he won on points.
Usik’s path
The Ukrainian boxer has much more title than his opponent. Usyk is an Olympic champion, an absolute world champion in the first heavyweight, the only holder of championship belts in all versions of prestige among professional boxers of our time.
Having eliminated heavyweight, Usyk moved on to heavyweight. In the first fight in the heavyweight division, Usyk defeated American veteran Chazz Witherspoon, who was not supposed to fight the Ukrainian at all. Undefeated Dutch boxer Tyrone Spong (14-0), best known to the general public for his past kickboxing career, was chosen as a rival. Shortly before the fight, Spong passed a positive doping test and an urgent replacement was found in the person of Witherspoon.
Experts agree that Usyk is a unique boxer, but he needs a heavyweight test.

During his debut against Chazz Witherspoon, he clearly didn’t like what came from the opponent. And Witherspoon isn’t even close to Derek Chisora’s level. Usyk is a genius, one of the best boxers of the generation. However, you need a control under the blows of heavy weights. And Chisora is a great test. If Derek wins, it will be one of the biggest victories in British boxing, ”says fight promoter Eddie Hearn.
Words before the fight
Chisora expects a brilliant duel with Usik.
“I will make sure that Usyk, upon leaving the ring, understands that he was in a real fight. The fight sells itself: Usyk is a good fighter, English fans love him. Even people who don’t like boxing love to watch it. In this fight there will be nothing wrong, there will be no hatred, it is about the love of sports, ”said Chisora.
“I really don’t care what people say. I know this big man will try to hurt me in every way possible, hurt. Everyone thinks Chisora is an evil and crazy beast, but she is a very kind person. Chisora looks like this, but deep down she is very kind. We just need boxing. Does Chisora want revenge on Tony Bellew? Let him do it. I’m ready. He is not driven by the desire for revenge. I don’t think Derek is the biggest fear in my life because he doesn’t know anything about her. I’m not sure what I’m afraid of myself, ”Usik replied.
