Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto called the ban on Hungarian officials from entering Ukraine “pathetic and pointless.”
Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Economy and Foreign Affairs, Peter Siyjarto, reacted to Ukraine’s decision to ban the entry of two Hungarian officials for campaigning in Transcarpathia during local elections. This is stated in a video clip published on Tuesday, October 27, on Siyarto’s Facebook page.
At the same time, the Hungarian minister noted that Budapest has not yet received an official notification of the entry ban on two Hungarian officials.
According to him, Ukraine took “hostile steps” towards Hungary due to the summons of the Hungarian ambassador and the decision to ban the entry of two officials, and this very decision is “pathetic and meaningless”.
“With this, Ukraine is sending the message … that it has rejected Hungary’s support for its Euro-Atlantic integration efforts,” Siyarto said.
He also congratulated the Hungarian candidates for the victory in the local elections in Ukraine.
As previously reported, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned the Hungarian Ambassador to Ukraine Istvan Idyarto on Monday, October 26, to deliver a protest note.
