According to preliminary data, the former mayor of Slavyansk, Nelya Shtepa, suspected of separatism, does not qualify for the second round of the mayoral elections, reports the local newspaper Karachun.

According to him, at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 26, about 60% of the protocols were processed. According to them, Štepa is in third place with a result of just over 16% of the votes.
The leader in the elections for the mayor of Slavyansk is the candidate of the Opposition Party Pavel Pridvorov – 32%, as well as the current mayor of the city of the Opposition bloc Vadim Lyakh – now has about 30%.

Recall that the party’s candidate for mayor of Slavyansk Servant of the people Olga Altunina published a parallel calculation of the results of the local elections. According to them, former city director Nelya Shtepa does not qualify for the second round, winning 16.48%.
Earlier it was reported that, according to the exit poll of the System’s analytical bureau, the former head of Slavyansk, Donetsk region, Nelya Shtepa, is in the second round of local elections. 23.1% of the voters voted for her, while 32.8% – for the current head of the city, Vadim Lyakh.
Nelya Shtepa headed the Slavyansk city council, Donetsk region in 2010-2014. After the invasion of Russian troops in Donbas, he asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to send troops to Slavyansk.
After the liberation of the city, a criminal case for separatism was opened against him. Shtepa was charged with several serious crimes, including invasion of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, which resulted in the death of people and the creation of a terrorist organization.
The former mayor of Slavyansk later explained that during the occupation of the city strong statements were made at gunpoint.
Nelly Shtepa’s case is still in court.
