The second round of local elections in Ukraine should take place before November 29. In an exceptional situation, it can take place in December.
Olga Aivazovskaya, director of the civil network OPORA, said this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
According to her, the electoral commission has 12 days to establish the result of the local elections.
“12 days from October 25 is the deadline for the electoral commissions to establish the result. This is November 6. As a general rule, the commission has the right to extend this term one more day, until November 7 . Therefore, we count a maximum of three weeks. This is the last date November 29, “- he said.
According to her, the second round should be established on November 15 or 22.
“If we talk about December, then this may be an exceptional situation: court appeals, court orders prohibiting the conclusion of a protocol on the results in relation to appeals, but this is very, very, in my opinion, unlikely,” Aivazovskaya said.
In turn, the director general of the Voters Committee of Ukraine Oleksiy Koshel, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, said that the second round of local elections would depend on how long the votes would be counted.
“Where there are trials, everything is real. And trials will be mandatory. Let’s see the results. But I do not rule out that there are communities where results may be at the limit. This is not a postponement. The CEC is simply obliged to appoint a second round.” . elections after the results are established, “he said.
At the same time, Koshel pointed out that there may be problems based on individual local election results.
Let us remind you that the first round of local elections in Ukraine took place on October 25. Voter turnout was almost 37%. The ballots were received by more than 10.5 million people.
