IFixit specialists carried out the traditional disassembly of the new Apple iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro smartphones. At the same time, it was discovered that the devices are similar in many respects and that some of their components are completely interchangeable. For example, the displays and batteries with a capacity of 10.78 Wh are completely identical in both new products.
However, there are some differences. For example, after removing the iPhone 12’s camera cover, iFixit found a plastic gasket where the iPhone 12 Pro’s telephoto module and LiDAR sensor meet. Both devices are equipped with wide-angle and ultra-wide angle cameras. 12 MP.
After illuminating smartphones with an X-ray machine, iFixit discovered another difference. The iPhone 12 Pro photo shows a black stainless steel frame. After disassembling the devices into separate components, the iFixit experts assigned the new Apple iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro a repairability rating of 6 out of 10. At the same time, it is observed that the devices use a large number of screws that need to be controlled. But it is better than common use glue. Improved waterproofing is also mentioned. It can make repairs more difficult, but it also reduces the likelihood of repairs being made due to water damage. Finally, the most pronounced weak point in terms of repair is the glass located on the front and back of both smartphones, which increases the probability of damaging the phones if they are dropped.
