Today is the last day of the “people’s ultimatum”
More than 100,000 people participated in a massive protest in the capital of Belarus. The people are demanding the resignation of Alexander Lukashenko and the release of political prisoners.
In Belarus, the opposition claims that more than 100,000 people participated in a protest rally in Minsk on Sunday, October 25. The gathering of the protesters was designated in the wake of Minsk Hero City, according to the Telegram channel TUT.BY.
“Today’s protest has already turned out more people than any of the Sunday demonstrations in the past month. More and more people continue to join the column,” says the social network.
The authorities reportedly brought a water cannon and wagons of rice.
The opposition notes that today’s action is being carried out so far without mass arrests. However, unknown people in ski masks still try to stop people. So a protester, in order not to be arrested, decided to swim across the Svisloch River.
It should be remembered that today is the last day of the “people’s ultimatum” that the leader of the opposition, former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, presented to the country’s authorities.
He stated that if several demands of the opposition are not met by October 26, all companies will go on strike in Belarus.
The protesters demand that Lukashenka resign and release all political prisoners.
Earlier we wrote that Tikhanovskaya thanked the Ukrainians for supporting the Belarusian protests.
We also recall that Tikhanovskaya went into self-isolation due to a possible infection with COVID-19.
