On the night of October 24, a mixed martial arts tournament was held in Abu Dhabi. UFC 254.
The Russian fighter faced in the main matchup for the UFC lightweight title Habib Nurmagomedov (28-0) and an American Justin gage (22-2).
Most of the first round was carried out standing up. Justin hooked Khabib a couple of times, meeting the opponent very tough. For a long time, Nurmagomedov could not stand up and threw punches. Justin hit a lot with low kicks.
In a brilliant episode, Khabib tried to hit with one knee in a jump, but Gagee escaped the blow. Justin’s uppercut and sidecut passed. At the end of the first round, Khabib stood up and the fight started on the net. Nurmagomedov tried to get into the arm, but a gong sounded.
In the second round, Khabib immediately took a takedown, grabbed the opponent’s back, switched to the mount, and closed the triangle. Gagee even passed out for a few seconds. The referee stopped the fight.
Nurmagomedov won a painful grip in the second round ahead of schedule.
Khabib defended his lightweight title. His new record: 29-0. Nurmagomedov dedicated the victory to his late father Abdulmanap, who passed away several months ago.
Immediately after the fight, Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement!
