During the Divine Liturgy, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus mentioned for the first time in the Diptych the name of Metropolitan Epiphanius as Primate of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

The Orthodox Church of Cyprus has recognized the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Thus, the OCU has already been recognized by four churches, according to its press service on Saturday, October 24.

It is indicated that today the primate of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus, Archbishop Chrysostomos II, during the divine synodal joint liturgy in the Paphos monastery, recalled for the first time in the Diptych the name of the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Epiphanius as primate of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

Thus, the Church of Cyprus, which is one of the oldest local churches, was recognized as autocephalous at the III Ecumenical Council, and the tenth in its place in the Diptych, joined the recognition of autocephaly tomes of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and became the fourth church to recognize the local OCU – after the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Church of Greece and the Patriarchate of Alexandria, “the message reads.

Earlier, the world’s largest Romanian Orthodox Church announced its consent to granting autocephaly to the OCU, but advocated for a consensus on this issue between the Moscow and Ecumenical Patriarchates.
