French company refuses to buy US liquefied gas

French Engie has officially postponed signing a $ 7 billion contract for the purchase of LNG from American NextDecade. The French authorities, who own about a quarter of the company’s shares (a blocking stake), asked him to reassess the deal due to environmental concerns. After that, Engie agreed to study the project in more detail.
Prior to this, the environmental group Les Amis de la Terre France urged Engie to withdraw from the NextDecade contract due to the fact that it is dealing with environmentally damaging shale gas and hydraulic fracturing.
The pre-agreement for the purchase of American LNG is estimated until 2045. A terminal will be built in Texas for the project.
Although Engie is one of Gazprom’s partners in building the SP-2, the current management is not worth evaluating as some kind of response to US sanctions. The fact is that now things are going very badly for Americans (for) sRants. And so far it’s only getting worse and worse. Well, the environment is also a good reason to wait for the election results and the evolution of the situation in the United States.
