In Odessa, in the Malinovsky court, in a trial in the case of a mutiny in a colony, seven prisoners opened their veins.
This was reported by edition 048.ua. The defendants had to opt for a preventive measure.
The defendants allegedly cut their veins with pencil sharpeners, which were given to them along with protective masks.
The seven victims were taken by ambulance to medical institutions.
Three of the accused have expired their previous sentence, which they served in the colony. However, they were unable to get out, as the containment measure for the suspects had already been extended several times.
In a meeting on October 23, the lawyers asked to change the restriction measure to house arrest. The judge again extended the detention in the remand center for 2 months. This allegedly became the motive for the massive self-harm action.
According to Alla, the wife of one of the defendants Sergei Lozyuk, the detention in the 51st colony was simply monstrous. The inmates were constantly beaten and given inedible food containing maggots.
As noted in the post, this is the fifth hearing in this case. They are constantly being postponed because there are no witnesses at trial. The next meeting will be held on November 3.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, on May 27, 2019, a prison riot occurred in correctional colony No. 51 on Lyustdorf road in Odessa.
After the unrest in the colony, the police entered the Unified Register of Pre-Information Investigations under Article 392 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (actions disrupting the work of penal institutions).
Various versions of the prisoner revolt in Correctional Colony # 51 are named.
