Dmitry Peskov announced plans of the Russian Federation for water supply to Crimea
The issue of water supply in Crimea will be discussed on Wednesday at a meeting between President Putin and the deputy prime minister of the Russian Federation.
Russia intends to provide water to Crimea independently and not depend on Ukraine. This was announced on Wednesday, October 21, by Russian President Dmitry Peskov’s press secretary, reports TASS.
He was asked whether the Kremlin excludes negotiations with Kiev on the Dnieper’s water supply to Crimea. To this he replied that Ukraine ruled out this type of negotiations, that they had turned off the tap.
“Russia is a powerful country, it is capable of supplying water to Crimea without Ukraine, which will be done so that later it does not depend on this tap,” added the presidential press secretary.
He said that the issue of water supply to Crimea will be discussed on Wednesday in a meeting with President Vladimir Putin with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
As you know, in August a water supply program was introduced in Simferopol and 39 other settlements. Starting on September 23, the water began to be shut off at night in the Alushta tourist complex and in several towns in southern Crimea. Since mid-October, the pressure in the pipelines began to decrease in Belogorsk. The Sevastopol authorities announced a maximum alert in September due to water shortages.
And in mid-October, the water reserves in the main Crimean reservoirs decreased to 15%.
