The office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported the suspicion to the former head of the Tax Service. He is suspected of abuse of power and official position.

This was reported by the press service of the Attorney General’s Office.

The pre-trial investigation concluded that the former official had illegally canceled the tax notification decision in the amount of 2.24 billion UAH.

It is noted that with this document, the Large Taxpayers Office of the State Tax Service of Ukraine collected additional rent for the use of mineral resources to one of the largest metallurgical plants in the country.

Therefore, the budget of Ukraine did not receive the indicated amount of unpaid taxes.

At the same time, the official’s name is not called.

Updated: Former head of the Tax Service of Ukraine Sergey Verlanov on Facebook said that the General Prosecutor’s Office had given him a suspicion.

“The accusations against me are absolutely unfounded and are just one more example of legal rubbish, which I will soon prove,” the former head of the tax office wrote.

We will recall, in April, that the Cabinet of Ministers decided to remove Sergey Verlanov from the post of head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine. He was appointed to this position in April of last year after the decision was made to split the State Tax Service.

A few days later, without competition, the government appointed Alexei Lyubchenko as the new head of the tax service.

On May 7, Verlanov said that SBU agents had searched his home.

“What they were looking for was not specified, but what likely happened was not found,” he said.
