The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has developed a response plan for four levels of danger due to the coronavirus. Ukraine is now at the first level.
This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Health Maxim Stepanov in the Rada.
This plan ensures that medical care is provided to all who need it.
“We have developed a detailed plan that takes into account the capacity of the health system and determines the algorithm of actions according to the four levels of danger,” he said.
Stepanov noted first level, in which Ukrainians are now, suggests the daily number of COVID-19 cases in the range of 5-7 thousand.
“The health system is able to bear such a burden, and even 6 months ago, even three months ago, this was impossible,” he said.
Second level – the capacity of the beds in the fund will be around 70% in the country as a whole. In addition, the estimated number of patients with confirmed cases in the country is 8 to 10,000, says the minister.
“It is possible that we will be at this level in the coming weeks. In this case, we will increase, as I said before, the number of beds in health institutions by 30% of the total capacity of beds. This is 52,000 beds,” he said Stepanov.
Third level – when the number of patients with confirmed cases of coronavirus will be from 11 thousand to 15 thousand per day, and the occupation of beds throughout the country will be at least 85%.
“Here, in addition to the second level measurements, we will provide imposing strict quarantine restrictions in the country with a complete list of restrictions on the red level of epidemic danger, “he said.
In particular, the mobilization of all medical workers and other categories of workers will begin, the work of departmental institutions for the civilian population will be organized and the work of field hospitals will be ensured.
Fourth level – This is when the resources of the health system are exhausted, and the daily number of cases will be about 20 thousand patients.
“Here we will have to introduce the activation of the triage protocol with the priority of providing medical care,” Stepanov said.
Recall that the Ministry of Health is preparing for the worst case scenario for the development of the coronavirus in Ukraine.
Note that the peak of the viral disease epidemic in Ukraine is expected at the end of November.
