Authorities in Warsaw (Poland) have decided to cancel this year’s New Year celebrations due to the COVID-19 coronavirus infection pandemic. This was announced on October 19 by the press secretary of the Warsaw mayor’s office, Karolina Galecka, reports Onet.

“Due to the current epidemic situation, the city’s New Year celebration will not take place this year,” Galetskaya said.

According to her, the celebrations will be canceled because “the health of the citizens is more important.”

The mayor’s office pointed out that the savings from the cancellation of the holiday could be redirected to “something more important.”

In 2019, a festive concert with the participation of Polish and world stars was held in Warsaw at Bank Square on New Year’s Eve.
