UEFA has announced the name of the referee for Shakhtar’s match in Madrid in the Champions League in the first round of the Champions League group stage.
The Real Madrid – Shakhtar match will be served by the Serbian referee team led by Srdjan Jovanovic.
Although Jovanovic has been a FIFA referee since 2015, he has never crossed paths with Real Madrid or Shakhtar before. In addition, the Serbian, in principle, did not work in the matches of Ukrainian teams.
But he managed to “annoy” the others. Last Wednesday, October 14, Jovanovic was the main referee for the Nations League match between Portugal and Sweden.
The Portuguese managed a comfortable 3-0 victory, but the second goal was controversial, as Jota’s scorer could be offside. Immediately after the goal, the Swedish coaching bench started arguing with the substitute referee, for which one of the assistant head coach received a yellow card. Discussions with the head referee continued during the break.
As a result, one of the fans of the Swedish team went to the English version of Wikipedia and added to the biography of Jovanovic that he was an “incompetent idiot”. The change dates from October 14 and has not been corrected so far.
