Did Douglas play with his hand? Serhiy Shebek sees an error in Monzul’s decision not to assign a penalty in the Dnipro-1 match

A resounding episode happened in the 72nd minute of the match of the 6th round of the UPL between Dnipro-1 and Desna. Tankovskiy shot Dnipro-1’s goal from five or six meters, Sarnavskiy did not save, but defender Douglas backed the goalkeeper. The question is, being on the goal line, how did you take the ball from the Brazilian: with your hand, your shoulder, your head?

Monzul listened to the referee-VAR prompts for a long time, but did not review the replay herself. As a result, he ordered the game to continue. Expert judge Sergei Shebek sees the referee’s error in this decision.

– The moment is dynamic, instantaneous, fast as lightning. Monzul was difficult to understand. Why? Because his view was blocked by two Dnipro-1 players, he was unable to clearly see what had happened. The replay from outside the goal shows that Douglas leaned in to hit the ball with his head, but played with his hand. It was supposed to be a penalty and a sending off for the “Dnipro-1” player.

The question is, why didn’t Monzul go see the video herself? You will say that it is easy for us to rate the episode by watching the replay from different cameras. But the referee also had that opportunity. However, she relied on the advice of VAR referee Kovalenko, who did not insist on watching the replay and thus disappointed her. But, nevertheless, the responsibility for the wrong decision remains precisely in the conscience of Monzul, – said Sergey Alexandrovich.

Note that Dnipro-1 defeated Desna with a score of 2: 0.
