The teams were approaching the last game of the sixth day, finding themselves at opposite poles in the table, but with similar problems. In the current season, “Desna” Chernihiv has not yet lost and before the start of the tour she was deservedly in the group of leaders. “Dnipro-1” during the same time managed to change the mentor, but never felt the already forgotten taste of victories. During the hiatus, both teams lost some artists who went to the Ukraine adult and youth teams. So not everyone was 100% ready today.
The meeting of the players hired from Shakhtar aroused interest: Pikhalenok and Ignatenko on the one hand, and Mudrik on the other. Special attention, due to her stardom at a young age, was attracted by the extreme “Desna”, of whom they demand a lot, but so far it is more disappointing than pleasant. Today, in the first half, he often found the ball, tried to think of something, but at the start there were frequent losses and a game without grievances. Mikhail had a good chance, but unfortunately, as his glory runs ahead of him.
The one who made us happy today was Dnipro-1. We talk about this without sympathy or prejudice. The team failed early in the season, but with the arrival of Igor Jovichevich, there was a resurgence. In episodes they looked good in the match against Vorskla, and in the sixth round they beat Desna. And this is a team that is considered the main contender for the final bronze, and more recently made its debut in European competitions.
Dnipro very quickly proved who will be the leader and who will be the follower today. Pressuring the guests near their penalty area, they managed to take the ball from him, and after perepasovka Nazarenko-Kogut-Nazarenko, Alexander took a direct shot at nine from outside the penalty area – Past could do nothing. It is interesting that the “Northerners” showed practically no activity ahead, despite being behind in the score. There were no dangerous moments before the break, and hardly anyone would say that Desna failed in the first half.
The same sentence can be said about the beginning of the second half. He should have immediately doubled Buletz’s lead, but his shot hit the crossbar. “Desna” considered it unfair, and after a few seconds helped the hosts to win a penalty. Dombrowski played very slow against Kohut, knocking him down inside the penalty area. Dovbik approached the ball with an accurate shot to the right corner, scoring his goal for Dnipro-1. Should it break now?
The second slap to the face did not wake up the Chernihiv team, who continued to play their slow soccer, with which it was difficult to expect a comeback today. And the owners were encouraged. Jovichevich’s defenses were able to score third, finally ending the intrigue in parallel, but Kogut and Nazarenko lacked precision, and the crossbar again prevented Pikhalenk’s blow. It’s a shame that it could have turned out to be a masterpiece. Do you think Dnipro-1 played perfectly, without a single mistake? This was not the case. 20 minutes before the end of the match, his battery began to run out and then Desna took the initiative. Several times they seriously disturbed Sarnavsky, but they could not find their target.
Let’s move on to the traditional chapter – “UPL Arbitration”. There were two controversial episodes in the match, after which Monzul was able to aim for the 11-meter mark. In the first, Douglas threw the ball out of the empty net with his head (“Desna’s” most dangerous moment), after which the round flew into his hand. Ekaterina Vladimirovna listened to the VAR referee’s instructions for three minutes, but did not award a penalty. Controversial. Already in injury time, Douglas himself pushed Katrushov aside inside the penalty area, after which it could also have been 11 meters, but the foul was not scored here. Controversial (2). Be that as it may, today’s “Desna” has not played enough for the final victory or the draw and, perhaps, such defeat will serve as a good lesson.
And “Dnepr-1” played at a high level. It was not enough for the full 90 minutes, but there was a desire to play and, most importantly, to win. And this, unfortunately, was absent during the late Mikhailenko. Dnipro produces the first this season at UPL. Should it break now?
