Turkey has found another gas field in the Black Sea, which will increase the volume of gas reserves by 85 billion cubic meters. The country plans to start gas production from a new field by 2023.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this on Twitter on Saturday October 17 during a visit to the Fatih drillship, which is working in the Black Sea.
“If on August 21 of this year we announced the discovery of 320 billion cubic meters of gas in the Black Sea, then recent studies have allowed us to increase the volume of proven reserves of the new field by another 85 billion, that is, up to 405 billion cubic meters, “he said.
According to Erdogan, this will reduce the price of gas for the Turkish population.
“We set ourselves the goal of making gas available to our people in 2023,” he emphasized.
The field is located in the western part of the Black Sea Tuna-1, in the territorial waters of Turkey, near the intersection of the maritime borders of Romania and Bulgaria.
Turkey found the first gas field in June this year.
