For Dynamo Kiev, the match on matchday six of the Ukrainian Premier League against Lviv Rukh was the last examination before the start of the Champions League group stage, so it was of utmost importance for the capital club to add three points at Arena Lviv and facing the fight with Juventus is in a good mood.
Mircea Lucescu made four changes to the starting lineup compared to the previous round. It should be noted that from the first minutes, for the first time this season, came Denis Popov, who recently recovered from an injury. Also, Tsygankov, Buyalsky and Supryaga went back to the start. Ivan Fedyk, in turn, almost half changed Rukh’s roster, releasing five new players.
The Dynamo, as expected, played the first number and made Grigory Kozlovsky nervously light a cigarette already in the 30th minute: Tsygankov cut a perfect pass into the penalty area to De Pena, and Carlos simply went over the goalkeeper – 0 : 1. Having opened the scoring, the Kiev players tried to secure a comfortable lead even before the break, but in the end they almost failed it when Tsygankov himself was cut down the middle. Fortunately for the guests, Viktor’s mistake did not result in a goal, as Rostislav Rusin hit Buschan from the penalty area.
At the beginning of the second half, the Dynamo had several opportunities to double the score, but the Lviv goalkeeper Bandura saved his team after dangerous blows from Karavaev and Buyalsky. And in the 69th minute Vladislav Supryaga pushed the ball past the goalkeeper after a Tsygankov pass, but from an acute angle hit the net from the outside.
Rukh did almost nothing in the attack. To be more precise, there were very few moments that could at least be considered dangerous on Georgy Buschan’s doorstep. Perhaps Ivan Fedyk’s team planned to go all-in in injury time, but as soon as the main was over, Dynamo removed the question about the match’s outcome. Kendzer fired from the right flank at Rodrigues, and Gerson fired into the hosts’ arc.
Interestingly, for substitute Rodrigues, this goal was his first in the Premier League this season, having previously distinguished himself in the qualifying rounds of the Super Cup and the Champions League. Perhaps he will manage to become a joker in the next fight with the best club in Italy. Apparently Mircea Lucescu has high hopes for him.
Well, in the league Dynamo still lead, with Kyiván two points ahead of Shakhtar. But “Rukh” with two points in the asset remains in the penultimate place of the classification. If things continue like this, the “Ukrainian Nagelsmann” will soon be fired.
