In December, there may be 400 thousand active coronavirus patients in Ukraine, if the current dynamics of incidence continues. During the past two weeks, the number of active patients has increased by approximately 30%.

This was announced by the head of the parliamentary commission on the health of the nation, Mikhail Radutsky.

“To understand how threatening the situation is, I propose to analyze the dynamics of the spread of the virus. During the last two weeks, the number of active patients in Ukraine has increased from 122 thousand to 164 thousand, that is, by approximately 30%. If this dynamic continues in the future, we will do so in December. We already have 400,000 active patients, “he said.

He recalled that 1,100 patients with moderate or severe disease were hospitalized on the last day.

“We see that about 15% of the people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 need hospitalization. If the number of active patients increases to 400,000, we will need 60,000 beds,” Radutsky said.

According to him, the health system must resist in December, but a second peak of incidence is expected in February. It is unknown what will happen then.

“Our healthcare system, subject to the deployment of additional hospitals, must resist. But December is not the last month of winter. The second peak in influenza incidence traditionally falls in February. Therefore, we must do everything possible today to contain the rhythm of the epidemic and avoid a blockade in the country, “Radutsky said.

Note that in Ukraine during the last day 6410 people got sick with coronavirus, which is a new anti-record.

We will recall, earlier, the Minister of Health said that the maximum number of beds that can be allocated for patients with COVID-19 is 52 thousand.

Also RBC-Ukraine wrote that hospital beds in the country for patients with suspected coronavirus disease are already 62.3% full.

In addition, the Ministry of Health previously said which patients in Ukraine most often end up in hospitals in serious condition with COVID-19.
