School teacher killed in France over Charlie Hebdo cartoons
The professor illustrated the lecture on freedom of expression with pictures, but not everyone liked it.
A history and geography teacher was beheaded in a Paris suburb because he used cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad during class. It was reported by BBC News on Friday, October 16.
The incident took place in the town of Conflans-Saint-Honorine, in the northwest of the French capital, around 5:00 p.m. Police received reports of a suspicious person walking through the school. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers first found the victim and then the suspect, who was 200 meters away.
When he tried to attack the police with a knife, they shot him. Now the crime scene is cordoned off, investigative actions are taking place there. The police advised local residents to avoid this place for a while.
The investigation was led by a prosecutor in charge of terrorism-related cases. French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanen, who was on his way to Morocco, immediately returns to Paris.
Recall that at the end of September a massacre took place in Paris at Charlie Hebdo’s former office. Two men with knives wounded four people on two streets near the magazine’s former office.
Later, the French Interior Ministry recognized the Paris massacre as a terrorist attack. The department head called the attack on journalists a bloody attack against France and the attackers: terrorists.
