Due to the war in Donbass, the Ukrainian economy has lost at least $ 120 billion, said Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister, Temporarily Occupied Territories Reintegration Minister Oleksiy Reznikov. He named this figure in an interview with Croatian channel N1.

“To understand the figures, according to estimates by independent experts, the losses of the Ukrainian economy by the destroyed Donbass already amount to 120,000 million dollars. For the restoration, 21,000 million are needed at least, according to the Vienna Economic Institute”, says Reznikov .

At the same time, he said the authorities set the goal of performing an “economic miracle” in the controlled Donbass territories.

“My ministry is now developing a concept of strategic economic development, the purpose of which is to attract investment through the creation of priority development areas. The key idea is not for budget funds, not for donor funds, and by less for credit funds, to restore the Donbass – a project along 420 km of the contact line to show that human life is only possible in a free and independent European Ukraine, “he said.

Reznikov noted that the Reintegration Ministry uses the Croatian experience to develop a bill on a transition period, but the model will be new.

“For example, in Croatia there is an experience of amnesty for people who did not commit war crimes, and those who committed a crime still had to be held accountable to the law. The main task in the transition period and for peaceful reintegration is to establish trust between people “. – he is stressed.

As Reznikov explained, the Ukrainian authorities plan to prepare in advance the future employees of the administrations who will arrive at their places immediately after the vacating of the territories of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions.

“This means that they already need to be registered as the administration of the city, the town, which is now under occupation,” the official added.

Note that one of the questions from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which will be asked of Ukrainians on the day of voting in the local elections on October 25, is the initiative to introduce a free economic zone in Donbass.
