Russia changed tactic in TCG negotiations – German Ambassador to Ukraine

In talks in the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbass, the Russian Federation is trying to convince that it is supposedly not a party to the military conflict.

The German ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldguzen announced this in an interview with European Pravda. The diplomat noted that Russia began to use such tactics especially intensively in recent TCG meetings.

I will highlight one thing that is generally not new, but has recently become much more noticeable: how Russia is trying to step back and convince everyone that it is not part of the troika. That, they say, the negotiations are being carried out by the OSCE, Ukraine and the separatists. This is not true, but now they have pledged to promote it everywhere, and we constantly remind them that the Minsk Group includes Russia, not separatists. That Russia is a party to the conflict and agreed to participate in its solution, and this is what we expect from it “– he stressed.

Feldguzen added that our country has become more actively involved in the negotiations: “sometimes there was the impression that Ukraine was simply reacting to the actions of the Russian Federation.”

Also she ruled out the possibility of Germany and France joining the negotiations in the TCG.

“No, such a scheme will not work. The TCG includes representatives from the OSCE, Russia and Ukraine, and I don’t think it makes sense that my colleagues from Paris or Berlin are there. Yes, sometimes they came to Minsk to feel the atmosphere, especially like this. The new colleagues who began to discuss this issue at the Foreign Ministry demanded it, but they were visits not to participate in Minsk, but to “feel it.” But their role in the TCG meetings cannot be, “the ambassador summarized.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, the General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Undersecretary of the Security and National Defense Council, Serhiy Krivonos, explained why Ukraine’s position in the TCG is losing.
