“Did I drown the team? We dream of strong Carpathians “

Co-owner of “Karpaty” Oleg Smaliychuk spoke about the current situation at the Lviv club:

“Karpaty is going through a process of radical changes, which I announced at the beginning. Nothing goes wrong. There are nuances in football, there are problems that must be addressed. And we are solving it. I don’t think it will take much longer than promised. But people must also understand that a club that has been drowning in the last decade is even physically unrealistic to be dragged into the elite in a couple of months. This is a long process.

Have I drowned the team? You can speak in different ways. I did something that no one in Lviv would take responsibility for. I don’t regret what I did. If I ever had political ambitions or connected my future with politics, I would be more concerned with the thoughts of people and respected football officials in Lviv.

But today I want to be as far away from populism as possible, to do what I love. We dream of strong Karpaty. And it doesn’t matter where Karpaty will play next season. It is important where they will be in 5, 10, 20 years. And even where they will be when we leave. “
