Sony showed on video the new user interface of the PlayStation 5 console

Sony has revealed one of the latest secret aspects associated with its upcoming PlayStation 5 game console. This is the user interface. You can see it in the official video posted by Sony.

The user interface has undergone significant changes from the spartan menu style of the PlayStation 4. In the new interface, Sony offers several installed or available games (or streaming applications in a separate tab).

Scrolling through Game Hub will reveal more specific game modes and actions that can be launched directly from the home screen, as well as other game-specific news and clips. Sony says that some backward-compatible PS4 games will also offer similar features.

The Explore menu displays official Sony and developer news, as well as popular videos and game clips. However, this feature is still being tested, and by the time the console starts, not all users can access it.

The new Control Center menu gives players access to a wide range of system tools, such as viewing notifications, friends online, managing music, managing console and controller settings, and viewing download status. There is also a new card ribbon, which is a key part of the user interface. It serves as a kind of permanent news source for games, latest developments, screenshots, and more.

Also in the row of cards you can find individual Activity cards that are associated with specific levels or modes in the game. Choosing such a card will provide an overview of the level, including an individual estimate of how long the PlayStation 5 thinks it will take the player to complete the level and what tasks they still need to complete.

Certain games and challenges will also include official in-game help for PlayStation Plus subscribers, which will display helpful videos and specific in-game objective suggestions. Some cards even support picture-in-picture or split-screen mode so gamers can view tracks as they play.

Sony is also expanding the group experience on PlayStation 5. Gamers can now share the screen with other members of their group and even pin those separate game streams along with their own.

Finally, PlayStation Store is integrated directly into the software and is no longer a standalone application. This will make it easier to find new games and apps on PlayStation 5.
