The National Council of Television and Radio and Television Broadcasting appointed an unscheduled verification of Ukraine’s NewsOne, ZIK and 112 television channels in connection with the broadcast of the meeting of the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform – For Life party , Viktor Medvedchuk, with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The National Council noted that The channels broadcast excerpts from the meeting between Medvedchuk and Putin, which took place from October 6 to 8.
“The broadcast distribution aims to create a positive image of Putin, humanizing and popularizing the aggressor state in Ukraine, which may pose a threat to the national interests and national security of Ukraine,” the statement said.
TV channels also showed a conversation between Medvedchuk and Putin about supplying the Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V to Ukraine.
“The editors of the television channels did not take measures to avoid a biased and unbalanced discussion of this issue, which in the unprecedented conditions of a pandemic is a form of public communication that potentially threatens the national security of Ukraine,” added the Council National.
The regulator has repeatedly designated checks “112 Ukraine”. In particular, in 2020, the TV channel was verified after the launch of the cartoon, the creation of which was attended by the Russian actor Alexander Mikhailov, who is on the list of people who are prohibited from entering Ukraine.
On October 17, 2019, Verkhovna Rada created a temporary commission of inquiry to investigate the circumstances of the change in ownership of the 112 Ukrainian television channels NewsOne and ZIK.
The three television channels belong to the People’s Deputy of the Opposition Platform – Por la Vida, Taras Kozak. According to the program “Our money”, is a member of the inner circle of the head of the political council of the Oposition Platform – For Life party, MP Viktor Medvedchuk, who is the godfather of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Kozak acquired NewsOne and 112 Ukraine at the end of 2018, ZIK – in the summer of 2019.
The National Council of Radio and Television stated that I can’t test the connection these means with Medvedchuk.
