The Milan court adopted a new translation of Markiv’s words

Previously, the prosecution used the phrase “we took out the reporter”, when in fact Markiv said “the Italian reporter was killed and now they want to blame me.”

The third judicial session was held in Milan to consider the appeal against the verdict against the National Guard Vitaly Markiv. This was reported by Ukrinform on Thursday, October 15.

The court heard the conclusions of a study of Markiv’s statements about the tragedy when the soldier was already in prison. According to a new translation of Markiv’s conversation with a cellmate in July 2017, Markiv didn’t say “we took out the reporter”, he said: “An Italian reporter was killed in 2014 and now they want to blame me.”

Previously, the prosecution tried to attach to the file a sentence taken out of context, trying to interpret it as “I killed.”

As reported, on June 12, an Italian court sentenced the Markiv National Guard to 24 years in prison for the alleged murder of an Italian photographer in Donbass.

The court will hear Markiv’s testimony again
