Most Ukrainians stayed at home

The coronavirus pandemic has somewhat affected the plans of Ukrainians to spend their holidays. This year, Ukrainians most often preferred three ways to spend their holidays: staying at home (61%), visiting the beaches of the Ukrainian sea (13%) and visiting a dacha or a garden (12%).

This is evidenced by the Research & Branding Group survey data.

According to the survey, 6% of Ukrainians went to another city in Ukraine, 1% went abroad by sea, and 1% also went abroad.

If we compare the frequency of mentioning the ways of spending the holidays this year with the previous two years (2018-2019), it is noted that this year Ukrainians were much more likely to rest at home, in summer houses and garden plots, and they also traveled to other cities in the country.

A third of Ukrainians (36%) said that the new infection and measures to combat it influenced their holiday planning, forcing them to make certain adjustments to this process. However, in the case of the majority of Ukrainians (60%), the pandemic did not affect these plans in any way.

The survey was conducted by Research & Branding Group from September 5 to 15, 2020 among 1801 respondents throughout Ukraine, with the exception of the employed. The maximum sampling error does not exceed 2.4%.

Note that according to a survey by Research & Branding Group, the coronavirus outbreak and long-term quarantine have changed Ukrainians’ plans for summer vacations.

Recall, according to Eurostat, the EU tourism sector has lost three quarters of its income due to COVID-19.
