The alleged location was discovered before the closing of the transition chamber

The astronauts were finally able to find the site of the air leak on the ISS. This was done with a tea bag flying in the direction the air was coming from.

Astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) were able to locate the alleged location of the air leak on the orbital station. A tea bag helped them with this, writes TASS.

“We believe that we have indeed identified the likely location of the leak. We distributed the tea bag before closing the transfer chamber,” said Russian cosmonaut Anatoly Ivanishin.

The cameras recorded the movement of the teabag in the direction of the air leak over the side of the station.

“We have several photos and videos of the direction the teabag flew or where it intended to fly, which only shows which way the air is blowing for a possible leak,” Ivanishin emphasized.

Prior to this, astronauts searched for air leaks aboard the ISS using confetti.

Previously, Korrespondent.net wrote that the source of the leak was found in the Russian Zvezda module, which contains scientific equipment. Roscosmos representatives assured that the air leak would not threaten the ISS crew. Note that this is the second case of an air leak in the Russian segment of the ISS in two years. In 2018, a “man-made hole” was discovered in the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft. The reason for its appearance has not yet been mentioned.
