French President Emmanuel Macron announced the introduction of a curfew in the metropolitan area Ile-de-France and eight megacities of the country. The curfew will go into effect on Saturday, October 17.

This was reported by the French television channel BFM TV.

The curfew will operate from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am. The restriction will be valid for at least 4 weeks.

According to Macron, the violation of the curfew will be sanctioned with a fine of 135 euros (about 4.5 thousand hryvnia). For a repeated offense, the French will have to pay 1,500 euros (almost 50 thousand hryvnia).

“There will be controls, and I thank the police for doing it since the beginning of the epidemic. There will be fines, as well as for many crimes,” he emphasized.

Such restrictions are introduced to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

We will remember, recently the quarantine was tightened in four cities of France. Bars and restaurants will be closed in these cities from Saturday.

Before that, Paris and its suburbs were in the zone of maximum danger. A large number of new cases of coronavirus are registered in the French capital.
