Ukraine Receives Note Due to Zelensky Decree on Belarusian IT Specialists
Minsk called Vladimir Zelensky’s decree “hostile and discriminatory”, in addition to bordering on interference in the internal affairs of Belarus.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry convened the Ukrainian Ambassador Igor Kizim in connection with the decree of President Vladimir Zelensky on the extension of the stay of Belarusian IT specialists in Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, October 13.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry delivered a protest note to Kizim. Zelensky’s decree was described as “hostile and discriminatory” in Minsk and bordering on interference in the internal affairs of Belarus. The decree undermines confidence in bilateral relations, the ministry added.
“In this regard, the Ukrainian side is strongly recommended to take measures to comply with the contractual obligations assumed in relations with Belarus,” the Foreign Ministry said.
Ukraine was also threatened with retaliatory measures to protect national interests, adding that it has no intention of crossing the “red lines”.
As a reminder, Zelenskiy has simplified the entry for IT specialists from Belarus. It is planned to provide for the possibility of reducing the period for obtaining a residence permit to three days without the need for additional travel outside Ukraine.
In addition, a web portal for IT specialists from Belarus was launched in Ukraine. Professionals wishing to relocate to Ukraine due to events in Belarus will be able to find all the necessary information in a special resource of the Ministry of Digital Science.
