Lukashenka’s meeting with arrested opponents
Viktor Babariko believes that the conditions of the meeting were uneven, and therefore cannot be called dialogue.
The arrested Belarusian opposition leader, Viktor Babariko, said he does not consider the meeting with Alyaksandr Lukashenka at the remand center as a “dialogue”. He told his attorneys about this, reports Tuesday, Sept. 13, TUT.BY.
Thus, he said that the meeting held on Saturday cannot be called dialogue. In the first place, because the dialogue implies the equality of the participants from the point of view of their freedom, in this case it was not the case, Babariko himself and other participants in the meeting are in prison.
“Furthermore, the dialogue must be accompanied by equal access of its participants to the field of information, which is also impossible when a person is in detention. And thirdly, there must be a much wider circle of representatives of civil society at the table. Therefore, no agreements were reached during the meeting, “he added. Believe Babariko.
He believes that dialogue is possible, but under certain conditions, the first of which is the release from prison of the meeting participants. Babariko also calls for the release of other political prisoners.
According to advocates, the former banker’s position on political issues has not changed.
Babariko also said that the meeting participants did not delegate authority to dialogue or speak on their behalf.
Lukashenka met at the KGB remand center on Saturday 10th October. He spoke with twelve detainees, most of whom were recognized as political prisoners.
Tihanovskaya announced an ultimatum to Lukashenka
Recall, the opposition Maria Kolesnikova refused to participate in the meeting, saying that she did not consider it necessary to communicate with the authorities in conditions in which all opposition leaders are in prison or expelled from the country.
It also emerged today that the last member of the Coordination Council has left Belarus at large.
