The National Bank of Ukraine has put into circulation a commemorative 5 hryvnia coin since October 12.

According to the NBU press service, a coin called “Peredovaya” was dedicated to doctors and the military. Circulation was 45 thousand, retail price – 68 hryvnia, material – alpaca.

“During a pandemic, in the conditions of Ukraine’s struggle for the territorial integrity of the country, everyone has their own front line and their own front line, and only through joint efforts can it be won,” the NBU described the coin design.

The obverse of the coin includes:

at the top, the small state emblem of Ukraine and the inscription “Ukraine”;

on the right, on a matt background, the inscription “Together” (vertical) and the denomination of the 5 hryvnia coin (vertical inscription);

on the left on a mirror background: two hands showing the V sign, a common gesture that signifies victory and peace; year of issue of the coin – 2020 and the logo of the NBU Banknote and Mint.

On the reverse of the coin there are images of a doctor and a military man, among which there is a vertical inscription “Front”.

Ukraine introduced a new 5 UAH coin

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, on October 7 the National Bank issued a new commemorative coin with a face value of 2 hryvnia.

On June 3, the National Bank put into circulation a 10 hryvnia coin. Subsequently, the new money will completely replace the existing banknotes. The main reason: paper bills wear out quickly, have to be changed frequently, and coins last much longer.
