There may be problems with medical personnel in the capital.

Metropolitan health workers are leaving because of the low wages they pay to work with coronavirus patients, Gelevey said.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in Kiev, up to 25% of doctors have stopped smoking. This was announced on the air of Hromadsky radio by Oleg Gelevey, head of the permanent commission on health and social protection of the Kiev City Council.

“Of this figure, 10% are doctors, others are intermediate staff. The reason is low salaries. They must be returned immediately to effectively fight the infection. None of the nurses will fight the coronavirus for 10,000-15,000,” said the official .

He also said that there may not be enough oxygen in the capital’s hospitals.

Geleway calls for the redistribution of funds from other areas to fight the coronavirus, to buy the necessary equipment and increase the salaries of doctors.

At the moment, 20 hospitals have been involved in the fight against COVID-19 in Kiev, while at the beginning of the pandemic there were only seven. At the same time, according to Gelevei, the occupancy rate in key hospitals reaches 90%.

We recall, last week the Kiev authorities asked the government for help with a request for help in the fight against the coronavirus, as hospitals in the capital are running out of places for patients.
