Mass protests over the falsified voting results in the presidential elections in Belarus have continued since August 9. According to official data, the current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, won the elections. At the same time, alternative exit polls showed a sure victory for the opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
The Belarusian security forces violently dispersed the protesters. They applied explosions, rubber bullets and water cannons… During the protests, hundreds of protesters were injured and wounded, 13 thousand people arrested… According to official figures, killed four protesters.
On October 11, the Pride March was held in Minsk and other cities in Belarus. The security forces began using water cannons and stun grenades in the capital, when the detained protesters were beaten with batons… Journalists noted that there had not been such violent clashes for about two months. Human rights center “Viasna” reported arrest of almost 600 people in 12 cities of the country.
