Zelensky awaits the results of the fight against corruption
The Attorney General has until the end of the year to show the result. Otherwise, Ryaboshapka’s fate awaits her.
President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded that Attorney General Irina Venediktova show the results of the fight against corruption before the end of the year. He spoke about this in an interview with HARDtalk.
He recalled that the former Attorney General, Ruslan Ryaboshapka, did not prove his worth in the position in 6 months of work.
“They could not have jailed all the corrupt officials, I understand. Six months is too short, but there must be steps. Because we must respond to society, to which we promised that there will be jails,” he said.
“If the new attorney general does not show her result by the end of the year, then I will give her the same answer (as well as Ryaboshapka – ed.),” Zelensky added.
We will recall, Zelensky appointed Venediktova’s attorney general on March 17 after the Verkhovna Rada vote. Ryaboshapka was removed from office on March 5.
