In Yaremche, in the Carpathian region, a car fell off a cliff, as a result of which two people died and three were injured.
This is reported by the police of the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The accident occurred on the N-09 Mukachevo-Ivano-Frankivsk-Lviv highway at 9:05 p.m. on Saturday. According to preliminary data, the driver of the Volkswagen Touareg lost control of the rounded section of the road and hurtled off the cliff.
Apart from the driver, there were four other passengers in the car. As a result of the accident at the scene, passengers were killed: a 31-year-old resident of Yaremche and a 24-year-old resident of the Chernivtsi region.
Three more people from Bucovina were transferred to medical institutions. A 27-year-old driver has a closed head injury and scapula fracture, a 25-year-old passenger has a concussion and multiple trauma, a 24-year-old passenger has a skull fracture and other injuries.
The driver also performed a blood test to determine the alcohol content.
Regarding the accident, a criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 286 (violation of road safety regulations, resulting in the death of several people) of the Penal Code.
