The court decided that Zelensky’s words that Bondarenko is allegedly a “bandit” and has 19 criminal cases are his value judgment and do not contain deliberately false information.

The Kiev Pechersk District Court dismissed the mayor of Cherkasy, Anatoly Bondarenko, for satisfying the lawsuit against the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Bondarenko asked the court to protect his honor and dignity. But the court decided that Zelensky’s words that Bondarenko is allegedly a “bandit” and has 19 criminal cases are his value judgment and do not contain deliberately false information.

The court saw no reason to consider the president’s words rude, humiliating or obscene, the decision says.

“A public person, a public official, must be prepared for a higher level of criticism, even rude, close attention from society and a greater public interest in their activities and / or personal life, because they, when choosing a career as a public person, they accepted such attention “, – stressed in court.

After evaluating all the evidence, the court concluded that the mayor of Cherkassy’s claim was unfounded and was therefore decided not to comply. At the same time, Bondarenko has the right to appeal this decision to the Court of Appeal.

We will recall, in May, at a press conference, Zelensky said that he “will not sit at the same table with those bandits” as the mayor of Cherkasy. He made such a statement, commenting on Bondarenko’s decision to weaken the quarantine without permission from the government.
