A man on a Kawasaki motorcycle ignored the raised safety barrier and no traffic light and drove onto the bridge before falling through the opening in front of the elevated bay.
In St. Petersburg, Russia, a motorcyclist fell from the Sampsonievsky Bridge over the Bolshaya Nevka River while driving and died. On Sunday, October 11, TASS reports with reference to the city traffic police department and the Leningrad region of the Russian Federation.
“As a result of the traffic accident, the driver of the motorcycle died at the scene. A control is being carried out on this fact,” the message says.
The incident is said to have occurred at 2:15 p.m. Sunday. According to preliminary information, at the time of the emergency, the bridge was opened to ensure the passage of the vessel. But the man on the Kawasaki motorcycle ignored the raised safety barrier and redirection signal and drove onto the bridge, then fell through the opening in front of the elevated span.
Earlier in Warsaw, a two-section passenger bus fell off a bridge. Then one person died and 17 others were injured.
And in Zaporozhye, a piece of concrete structure collapsed on top of a taxi, which fell off the Preobrazhensky bridge. No one was injured and the stone damaged the vehicle’s windshield.
